How to vastly increase making youkai your friends

After reading around i discovered there is a item that will increase the chances of a youkai becoming friends with you. It requires a bit of work to get but well worth the effort.

There is a shrine in Kemamoto that allows you to turn youkai into souls you can then combine these souls with each other to get rare ones if you get the right combination together. There is a rare soul called a motemote soul when equipped on a youkai it raises the chances of a youkai becoming friends.

To make it you need 2 specific youkai

Motemoten (No 056)
Zukyukyunta (No 152)
====================================
Motemoten can be found on the 4th floor of the office building your dad works in, you will need to activate the mystery sign outside to the right of the building & find a maboroushi to put in the circle to get the extra floors in the building to appear.
===============================
Zukyukyunta can only be found if you evolve a Kyuntarou (No 151) they are a C rank youkai found in the trees around the area that the station is in they look like pink dogs holding a heart. Once you have one you will need the Item to evolve it into a Zukyukyunta the easiest place to find it is in the jungle hunter shop but you'll need points to buy it so it might take quite a bit of insect catching to get it. The ai no shyaku it looks like a piece of wood with a heart on & costs 750JP (might need to complete game for it to be in the jungle hunter shop)

Once you have the needed item goto the shrine where you can combine youkai & items & evolve your kyuntarou into Zukyukyunta then travel to kemamoto & goto the shrine that lets you turn them into souls.
===================================
Convert both into souls then select the second option & combine the 2 souls together, make sure that you select your Zukyukyunta as your base soul then motemoten as your second soul. If you have done everything correctly it will turn into a blue & yellow spiral soul that looks a bit like a galaxy, that is the motemote soul if you equip that on a youkai it vastly increases your chances.

Yo-kai are able to evolve and what’s more, certain Yo-kai can fuse to become an even greater Yo-kai with new abilities, skills and stats. Some of these evolutions and fusions can be found in the world and are able to befriend, while others are not.

This is the best way to fill up your book of Yo-kai and even to unlock some legendary Yo-kai, but that’s a story for another day.

LEVEL UP EVOLUTION
Leveling up your Yo-kai will not only increase their stats, but once a cerain level is reached they will evolve. You can stop the evolution simply if you want to keep your Yo-kai the way it is.

    Equipment:


Tengu Fan- This is probably the best equipment in the game. It offers +100 in Spirit and Speed to Tengu and Flengu. To top it off, they are both already S class Yokai with high stats as it is.
Obtained- Drops from Flengu (Moonlight Pass during the day), and "Take Out Tengu!" side quest.

Vampiric Fangs- This is the runner up for the best equipment in the game. The Yokai equipped will heal 50% of the damage it deals from its basic attack.
Obtained- Drops from Abodabat (Liar Mountain, Hooligan Road), and "An Offered Sword" side quest.

Fiend Badge- This is a very versatile equipment, so you should try to get a few of them. It offers +50 to Speed and -50 to Attack, and can be equipped to anyone. You will want to pass this around to healers, supporters and elemental attackers who have a much higher Spirit stat than Attack stat.

    Yokai:


Shogunyan- This is the easiest legendary Yokai to obtain, because all the medals are revealed to you and a lot of them are default recruits from playing story mode. You can get him before the final few chapters, and he is good right from the get go all the way up until post game. He is easily the best Yokai in the Brave tribe. His Speed can get as high as 300+ and he can be equipped with all of the very good Jibanyan equipment. Give him a Use Karate book as soon as he comes to you at level 1, and his attack stat will not be so far off from his Speed. Very dangerous, especially with Vampiric Fangs.

Snartle- This is another Yokai who can be recruited very early on in the game and can hold his own during the post game. By running the red light 5 times, he will appear and try to punish you. He may not be so easy to bring down at first, but once you have Yokai at level 25+ you should be able to bring him down without too much trouble. His attack stat is very good, and the rest of his stats are quite balanced. You might want him to be a little quicker though, so I recommend training him with the Twisted or Cruel attitude. His skill also offsets his need to have a lot of attack power, because it raises his strength with each enemy he defeats. This is another Yokai who makes best use of the Vampiric Fangs.

Reuknight- You can obtain him by fusing together an Armsman and a Helmsman (both found in the Old Mansion) and he becomes available pretty much the instant you have access to fusion. He is very tanky, with high Health, Attack and Defense. His Spirit is not so good and his Speed is average. You might want him to be a little bit faster, so train him with the Twisted attitude.

Appak- Appak is easily obtainable through the story, since Walkappa is recruited by default and you only have to level him up to evolve. Appak has very high Spirit and Speed, making him good at using elemental moves. He doesn't trail with basic attacks either, as his attack stat isn't bad and his basic move is pretty decent. Train him with the Brainy or Logical attitudes. I prefer Brainy personally since he is from the Charm tribe and will get a Speed bonus if he is placed next to other members of the Charm tribe in your party. Either attitude is perfectly fine, though.

Tengu & Flengu- These two are arguably the best Elemental attackers in the game. Both of them have abilities that greatly increases the damage of their Soultimate and Element attacks, and on top of that they have exclusive use of the Tengu Fan. They are also from the Mystery tribe, which gives them a Spirit bonus when they are next to each other in battle. I think the sickest part about them is that they also have such high attack stats and good enough basic moves that they can double as mixed attackers. Since they are so versatile, there are a lot of attitudes that you can train them with. Logical and Brainy are the obvious choices. Flengu can also make good use of Twisted and Cruel attitudes. Feel free to train them in HP or Defense as well, since the Tengu Fan automatically makes their Spirit and Speed stat good enough to still compete with all the best Spirit attackers.

Kyubi & Frostail- These are the only Spirit attackers that can compete with the Tengu duo in the post game. Instead of having an ability that makes their attacks stronger, they have an ability that makes it impossible for them to miss. This is good since it can free up a spot on your party to use a Yokai who doesn't have Old Zone. They are also both very powerful and have such high Spirit stats that if it weren't for the Tengu Fan, the Tengu duo would be second place. They also come from the Mystery tribe, so that is another bonus. They work well when equipped with the Fiend Badge, but Venoct's Gauntlet and the Heavenly Sash aren't bad choices, either. Always train them to have a Logical or Brainy attitude.

Baddinyan- Baddinyan can be obtained in the main story as soon as you are capable of doing fusion. He is also excellent from start to finish. Just like all the Jibanyans, he has amazing Speed by default. He makes for a great physical attacker, so train him with the Rough attitude. He has access to all of the very good Bell equipment, and he is from the Charm tribe, so he can get a little extra speed.

Betterfly- If you get two Enefly, you can fuse them into Betterfly. Betterfly is just like Reuknight in the sense that they are A rank Yokai available at an incredibly early point in the game. Betterfly is a supportive and healing type Yokai, with an ability that prevents it from being inspirited. Its too bad you can't train it with the Cruel attitude, as that would have been perfect. Even so, healers are quite versatile, so Logical, Helpful and Gentle are all good attitudes for Betterfly. Pretty much any combination that includes either Speed or HP will work for Betterfly. I like Helpful the best.

Beetall & Cruncha- These two are definitely top tier physical attackers. The main selling point is their ability, which prevents all Yokai from loafing around. This is obviously very useful, as it means you never waste a turn and you don't even have to worry about how Serious or Carefree your Yokai are. Stat wise, they have very high attack and defensive stats, making them really good tanks. They also come from the Brave tribe, which has one of the better tribe bonuses. Good attitudes to train them in are Grouchy, Rough, Helpful, and Devoted. I prefer Helpful the most, as it increases their Speed a bit and as with Snartle, you will want them to be moving a little bit quicker. You should always consider them for your team.

Everfore & Eterna- Just like with the above two, these Yokai have the Oldness Zone ability, which prevents any allied or enemy Yokai from missing. That alone gives enough incentive to consider them for any team. The one exception might be a team with Kyubi and Frostail. Aside from that, they also double as very good supportive Yokai, with good inspirits and a healing Soultimate. Statistically, they have good Spirit, Speed, Defense and HP, so any attitudes that boost those are good choices. I like Logical and Cruel for the better speed and power.

Now that more information has been coming in on the game, we have learned how to abuse certain mechanics in order to do game breaking things, like farming an infinite number of Holy Exp Orbs, as well as colored Crank-a-Kai Coins, and through manipulation of the system clock, you can use the Crank-a-Kai as many times as you see fit, daily. With tools like this at my disposal, I was able to quickly obtain some of the exclusive Crank-a-Kai Yokai. More importantly though, I learned about the existence of IVs for Yokai similar to IVs in Pokemon, and how you can soft reset them to get the best Yokai you can. Once you have mastered that, you are one step closer to having the best Yokai in the game, as well as getting them with the best possible stats. So, before you begin, this is what you will need to do step by step:

======================================================== 1- Abuse the Yokai Cam feature to obtain a large amount of Holy Exp Orbs and Crank-a-Kai Coins. For reference, it takes 55 Holy Orbs to raise a level 1 S rank Yokai to level 99. You also may want the attitude altering books if you plan to change your Yokai's attitude right away.
2- Once you have the desired number of coins/orbs and the right books, save right in front of the Crank-a-Kai.
3- Now, begin using your coins. Use three at a time. I tend to keep going for the same color coin until an exclusive Yokai shows up.
4- Every time the Crank-a-Kai vanishes, save your file, and return to the home menu. Then, advance the day by one on your 3DS system clock. When you return to the game, a red oni will scold you for tampering with it, but there are no drawbacks aside from having to listen to him talk. The Crank-a-Kai will return if you did it correctly, allowing you to use it more than once a day.
5- Once an exclusive Yokai finally shows up, take note of how many coins you used. You can only use the Crank-a-Kai three times per go. So, assuming an exclusive Yokai showed up on the second coin you used, you would use one coin, and then save again right after that in front of the Crank-a-Kai.

6- Use the next coin to make the exclusive Yokai appear, but do not save after obtaining it. Go into your inventory and use a book to change its attitude if you wish, and once it has the desired attitude, use 5 Holy Orbs to raise its level. This raises S rank Yokai to level 44, giving you a much better view of its stats than at level 1.
7- After you have checked the Yokai's stats at level 44, if you deem it desirable, you are free to save the game and keep it. However, if it does not look like it has good stats, turn the game off and reset. You may not be able to abuse what prize you get with each coin, but you can abuse the stats of the prize you get through soft resetting, so there is no worry about Yokai stats being predetermined with your coin.

8- Repeat step 7 until you have found your desired Yokai with the desired stats, and then rinse and repeat to get the rest of the exclusive Yokai.
