As you’re playing through the main story of Yo-Kai Watch, you’ll be encountering plenty of different level Yo-kai. Some are stronger than others, but the strongest in the game are the boss Yo-kai.
The Boss Yo-kai in Yo-Kai Watch
are just as their names imply, the boss of specific chapters in the
story that you’ll need to defeat in order to move on to the next.
These Yo-kai
you cannot befriend and are more difficult than your average Yo-kai.
You’ll have to implement strategy using the targeting system and
preferably specific Yo-kai to help you get past these monstrous Yo-kai.
So we are compiling the list of Boss Battles you’ll encounter and the best ways to combat them so you can continue.
1.Slimamander
This boss is the first and easiest (no surprise) boss you’ll come
across. As with this boss and the others on this list, you’ll want to
make good use of the Target tab in battle.
With Slimamander your Yo-kai will continually hit one of the three
eye-heads. It’ll do little damage but after a while, Slimamander will
open one of its eye-heads. This is when it’s time to target and go all
out on the one eye. This will do extra damage.
Continue the process until it is defeated.
2. Sproink
This boss poises the first obstacle. Once you reach Sproink, you’ll
have to have quick fingers in targeting this pig-like boss. As you can
see from the above pic, Spronk carries two buckets that it uses to block
attacks. One will block his stomach and the other will block his head.
Those are the two spots you’ll want to target.
Be sure to have Yo-kai that can disrupt Sproink’s Soultimate because it will hit multiple Yo-kai and deal a lot of damage.
3. SV Snaggerjag
This is where element types comes into play. Snaggerjag is a water
element Yo-kai so you’ll want to carry some lightning Yo-kai on your
team to deal critical damage.
What’s more, Snaggerjag actually calls upon some fish friends to help
him fight you. In the beginning he’ll just summon fish that will attack
you. But when his health dwindles he’ll bring in fish that will
actually heal him. The fish are also water elements so lightning attacks
will dispose of them really fast but probably even better if you don’t
have lightning Yo-kai is to have Yo-kai whose Soultimate’s attack
everyone on the enemy side. This will deal damage to both the boss and
his fish.
4. Massiface
This massive boss is another slugfest. The three hit points are its
eyes and the x on its forehead. However, you’ll have to immobilize him
first by attacking one eye after the other.
Massiface’s Soultimate also attacks all of your Yo-kai so be sure to
have either high defense or a Soultimate of your own that will disrupt
him.
5. Phantasmurai
Phantasmurai is a wind-based boss -- so you’ll want to avoid
Earth-based Yo-kai -- whose weak spots are the center of the armor. Keep
wailing it until the armor opens up. When this happens, the boss will
be immobilized allowing for you to deal major damage to that same spot.
Keep repeating until it’s defeated.
6. Tarantutor
This spider Yo-kai boss is a tough one. Be sure to stock up on plenty
of food to replenish the health of your Yo-kai because this may take a
while.
Tarantutor is a lightning-based Yo-kai so earth-based are the way to
go here. There are five spots in which to hit this boss. The four legs
are where you’ll want to attack until they turn green. Once all four are
hurt enough, it will fall from the ceiling and expose its stomach. This
is the final spot to hit the boss and will present you the best chance
to deal major damage as it flounders around.
You’ll also want to watch out for its Soultimate that attacks all of
your front team and its inspirits are really powerful. It will either
bind your front three Yo-kai in a web (or one if you have a protector)
or it will focus on one Yo-kai and poison it. If you have a Yo-kai that
is poisoned, quickly purify it because the poison does a lot of damage.
Also, inspirits won’t work on this Yo-kai at all. So focus on Yo-kai who attack with STRENGTH and TECHNIQUE
7. Dr. Maddiman
Dr. Maddiman is a very tough boss and if you aren’t perceptive and observant you may miss the biggest trick to defeating him.
The biggest trick to defeating Dr. Maddiman is to target the hearts
that lurk around his office. By targeting them they disappear and this
keeps Dr. Maddiman from healing himself. If you don’t, Dr. Maddiman will
heal a lot of his health back.
But besides that, let’s get into Dr. Maddiman’s attacks. The
Soultimate attack is what you want to worry about, it poisons all of
your front three Yo-Kai. This will force you to rotate them out and
purify them before the poison depletes their health.
I’ve had great success using Yo-Kai of the Slippery tribe because
they avoid inspirits really well. Also, use Yo-Kai who tend to inspirit
enemies more often because Dr. Maddiman takes a lot of damage from
poison and burn effects. Coughkoff dealt a lot of damage using its
poison.
8. McKraken
Now we get into the big boss of the game. Once you get to this boss,
be prepared for a long drawn out battle so stock up on plenty of food
and meds to give to your Yo-Kai. Use healers if that’s what you want but
it’s not necessary.
There are three targets on McKraken, one on each hand and the head.
Target the hands first to prevent him from using his attacks and then go
for the head. Once all three have been hit long enough, that’s when you
can go all out with your attacks to deal the most damage.
Like previous bosses, McKraken’s inspirit affects all three of your
front Yo-Kai. Again, Slippery Yo-Kai avoid these easily so think about
that when going up against McKraken.
McKraken’s Soultimate is a devastating attack that hurts all of your
front Yo-Kai. McKraken shields himself with his tentacles as he charges
up his attack. You’ll have three turns to knock the tentacles away and
cancel his Soultimate. To counter this, use Yo-Kai whose Soultimate’s
attack the whole field. This is also a good strategy to hitting all
three targets on McKraken as well.
9. Slimamander 2
After defeating McKraken, Slimamander will appear in front of the
school again stronger than before and you’ll have to defeat it again.
Again, this boss is tougher and takes more damage and the targeting is
more crucial this time around.
Slmamander has his three heads but only one eye. You don’t know which
head the eye is in so you’ll have to guess and target one head at a
time. Once you find the eye, you can start to attack it to deal extra
damage.
If you knock the head without an eye, you’ll have to go onto to the
others till you find it BUT that head you knocked out won’t attack you
anymore.
Think about bringing Yo-Kai whose Soultimates attack the entire field to knock out the heads/attacks and reveal the eye quicker.
10. McKraken 2
After it’s all said and done, McKraken will try and infiltrate the human world and you’re the only one who can stop him.
McKraken is tougher this time and has changed his form. He will now
use element attacks including Water, Wind and Electric. There is only
one area to target and that’s the stomach and you’ll have to keep
hitting it till he opens up his stomach and reveals a small orb. This is
where most of the damage is done on McKraken’s second form.
McKraken’s inspirit affects the entire front row again so you should
use Slippery Yo-Kai to avoid them. And his Soultimate will hit the front
row also and doesn’t have a standard cancel like when his tentacles
shielded him.
Stock up on food and meds and prepare for a long battle.
